Scholarship/ Waiver Policy of Undergraduate and Master’s Programs
for Spring 2024
Financial Aid is monetary assistance from institutional, governmental, or private source that is available to assist students in affording educational costs. This financial aid could be in the form of academic scholarships, tuition fee waiver and study loans.
The university of comilla offers scholarship and financial aid under the provision of Private University Act 2010. In the year 2022, The university of comilla has spent about Taka 16 (Sixteen) CRORE in Scholarship and Waiver purposes. This was a significant step forward for The university of comilla to encourage academic excellence in Bangladesh. We are committed to persistent investment in the “Scholarship and Waiver Program” in the coming years too. We encourage dedicated students, aiming for a bright career to apply for admission at The university of comilla.
The following types of Scholarships and Waivers are available in The university of comilla:
- Merit Based Scholarship (based on previous academic attainment)
- Semester Result Based Scholarship (based on high academic attainment at The university of comilla)
- Tuition Fee waiver for The university of comilla and US-Bangla Group employees and their Children, Siblings & Spouse
- Full-free Tuition Fee Waiver to the Sons and Daughters of Freedom Fighters

A. Merit based Scholarship

2. Scholarship policy for Graduate Programs (MBA, EMBA and LLM)
Scholarships are available for students who have graduated from any government-approved public and private universities

3. Special waiver (One student can avail only one option from following categories)
4. Full-time Government employees including the personnel of Armed Forces and autonomous organizations getting admission to graduate programs would be entitled to 30% (fixed) Tuition Fee Waiver. (Eligible students can avail only one option of scholarship/ tuition fee waiver whichever is higher).
5. If any candidate is eligible for a 30% to more scholarship (except children of Freedom Fighters) for undergraduate programs, then he/she will not be eligible for any additional scholarship/waiver (see special waiver in para # 3) during admission.
6. Students of the LLB (Hons) program will get scholarships based on the results of SSC and HSC. They won’t get any additional waivers (siblings, spouse, ethnic, etc.) during admission.
7. Scholarship for the Second Major (One degree with two majors), in case of second major, the students will be entitled for additional 5% scholarship.
B. Semester Result Based Scholarship
Undergraduate students can avail the following scholarship based on their previous semester Results at The university of comilla. (In addition to their previous result-based scholarships during admission):

C. Tuition Fee waiver for The university of comilla and US-Bangla Group employees and their Children, Sibling & Spouse
The university of comilla/US-Bangla Group Faculty Members/Staff or their ward (maximum two)/spouse or first-degree relatives will receive a 25% additional tuition fee exemption, provided they maintain the required semester GPA for the respective waiver level. There are no restrictions on the courses that employees of The university of comilla/US Bangla Group can take. However, the waiver will only be applicable if the employee has at least one year of work experience; otherwise, the waiver will not be eligible. After completing their degree, they must serve at The university of comilla/US-Bangla Group for a minimum of two years; otherwise, they must reimburse half of the benefits received upon leaving their service.
D. Full-free Tuition Fee Waiver to the Sons and Daughters of Freedom Fighters
The scholarship/ waiver for sons/ daughters of the Freedom Fighters may be provided as
- 3% students will be eligible for 100% scholarship/waiver.
- The scholarship/waiver will be given on tuition and registration fees
- The scholarship/waiver will be given according to the University policy.
- The scholarship/waiver will be given after verification of the certificates and relevant documents.
- Applicants will have to apply in the prescribed Financial Aid Form on payment of Tk 100/-(Hundred) only.
Conditions for getting Scholarship and Tuition Fee Waiver
- This policy will be effective from Spring 2024 for the new students who are entitled for tuition waiver based on their previous academic results.
- All types of scholarship/ waivers based on previous academic results (SSC, HSC, Bachelor and Masters) will continue for first two semesters. For third and consecutive semesters, scholarship will depend on the results of the 2nd and subsequent semesters. After first two semesters, if any student fails to maintain his/her required GPA; s/he will get the following opportunities for subsequent semesters:
- If a student fails to maintain the minimum semester GPA required for a particular level of waiver, s/he will be entitled for a lower level of waiver entitled to a student equivalent to his achieved GPA.
- If a student has got 30% scholarship for which minimum semester GPA requirement is 3.50 or above, but fails to maintain this GPA and gets GPA 3.25 to below 3.50, s/he may be allowed to enjoy 15% scholarship for that semester.
- If a student has got 15% scholarship for which minimum GPA requirement is 3.25 or above, but fails to maintain this GPA and gets GPA 3.00 to below 3.25, s/he may be allowed to enjoy 10% scholarship for that particular semester.
- If a student has got 10% scholarship for which minimum GPA requirement is 3.00 or above, but fails to maintain this GPA and gets GPA 3.00 to below, s/he will not be allowed to enjoy any waiver for that particular semester. If a student officially dropped any semester (maximum two semesters and have to be approved by the Registrar) s/he may be allowed for next semester waiver as approved before.
- Semester-wise minimum credit loads: To be eligible for scholarships and tuition fee waivers (excluding ethnic minority group, siblings, faculty and staff reference, and spouse waivers), undergraduate and master’s program students must enroll in a minimum of seventeen (17) credits each semester. However, if any department offers fewer than 17 credits (not less than 15 credits), this condition will be relaxed.
- If any student registers in a semester for 17/15 or more credits, s/he have to pass all registered credits and to maintain the required GPA to enjoy or to continue his or her scholarship/ tuition fee waiver.
- If a student drops a semester /drops all courses registered in a semester within the stipulated time, his/her tuition fee will not be refunded, rather it will be adjusted with the tuition fee payable during the next registration of courses. Besides, if the student cancels his/her admission after dropping a semester/ dropping all courses, such tuition fee will not be refunded either.
- Scholarship and tuition fee waiver benefit is applicable only for credit fee and is never applicable for Admission fee, Registration/Semester fee, Library and IT Services fee, Laboratory fee, Extra Curricular activities fee, Internship/Dissertation/Project/Thesis/Research Writing/Monograph Writing, Course Improvement fee, Make-up or Retake examination and viva-voce fee, etc.
- Facilities, such as, scholarship, tuition fee waiver, etc. will instantly be cancelled forever if any student is found taking part in any activity which goes against the rules and regulations of the university. This policy will be followed strictly.
- In case of admission in Undergraduate and Post-Graduate Programs, education gap may be considered.
- Applications of curse waiver/ credit transfer must be submitted to the respective department before registration for classes in the 1st Different departments may have some additional requirements.
- A students can enjoy maximum 30% scholarship/waiver for all undergraduate programs from one or more categories except Word of Freedom Fighters, needy but meritorious students during admission.
